BOURGOGNE – FRANCHE-COMTÉ: Exhibition “Photos upside down to put ideas back”
It is in Dijon and Besançon until December 17.
Laëtitia Martinez, vice-president of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in particular in charge of real equality, inaugurated, this Monday, November 22 in Dijon, the exhibition “Photos upside down to bring ideas back to the place ”, alongside representatives and representatives of the Women’s Rights Collective 21.
The Region has chosen this year to highlight the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (celebrated on November 25 and supported by the United Nations) through an exhibition. Dubbed “Photos upside down to put ideas back”, the latter will be presented until December 17 in the François Mitterrand gallery of the Regional Council in Dijon and at the reception of the Hôtel de Région in Besançon .
This exhibition, particularly intended for school audiences, was produced by the Women’s Rights Collective 21, which brings together associations fighting for women’s rights and equality between women and men. Thanks to the voluntary mobilization of various members, including photographer Latifa Messaoudi, these images reverse the roles between women and men in order to highlight gender stereotypes. Three of them relate very directly to the violence suffered by women, in public or private spaces.
“Gender-based and sexual violence is a reality throughout society. They concern all backgrounds, all sectors. No part of society escapes this scourge, which overwhelmingly affects women and girls, but also men and young boys. Women, children and minorities are the first victims. As part of the equality policy that we have been leading in the Region since 2019, we have implemented many actions
to fight against this scourge. This exhibition is an illustration of this today, ”said Laëtitia Martinez.
