Russia will receive the domestic Internet from space in 2024
It became known that the Sphere program will allow Russia to receive high-speed satellite Internet in 2024. About it writes TASS news agency with reference to the words of Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the state corporation Roscosmos.
“If everything goes as we plan, then in 2024 the country will receive the Internet from space”, – cites the source of the words of Mr. Rogozin.
In an interview with reporters, it was said that the state corporation received the first funds under the Sphere program for the formation of a scientific and technical reserve. Next year, 7 billion rubles will be allocated for the work of two Sphere projects, which will be spent on the creation of flight prototypes of satellites. “These funds will be used to create two flight prototypes of spacecraft Skif (Internet) and Marathon (Internet of Things). One of them will be launched in 2022, and the other in 2023 “– said the head of Roscosmos.
It was also said that part of the funds will be spent on the purchase of launch vehicles for launching Express-RV satellite communications in 2024. “There, the financing of the vehicles comes from the Ministry of Digital Science, we must create the launch vehicle ourselves.”, – Mr. Rogozin.
Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the Sphere program during a direct line in 2018. It was said about plans to launch more than 600 communication satellites and Earth remote sensing. In December last year, the media wrote that the work for 2021 was marked. Earlier, the executive director of Roskosmos for promising programs and science, Alexander Bloshenko, said that the chief executors had begun work on the Sphere program.
