The travel group TUI does not currently assume that the lockdown in Austria will affect the ski holiday business. The winter season is important for the ailing group.
For the travel group headquartered in Hanover, Austria is one of the destinations that ski vacationers book most frequently. According to the head of TUI Germany, Stefan Baumert, it is too early for a swan song for the 2021/22 ski season. The corona lockdown in Austria is planned until December 13th, and the ski season traditionally begins shortly before Christmas. Nevertheless, the group remains a certain uncertainty in the end.

Travelers book very quickly
Nevertheless, Baumert tried on Monday to spread optimism. The desire to travel is unbroken, a new normal in travel is emerging. Today’s customers are used to certain requirements. However, many still booked at very short notice. For TUI, this leads to problems with capacity planning.
No more short-time work from December 1st
For the coming summer, the company still expects a significant increase in demand – just below the pre-crisis level. The expected return to normal is also reflected more broadly among employees. From December 1, there will be no more short-time work in the entire group.
