In Caen, Orelsan inspires a supporters’ song
Busy day on Saturday for Orelsan: back on his land, in Caen, the rapper took advantage of being at the Stade D’Ornano to do everything a fan would dream of doing in his stadium. He sang on the pitch, kicked off the game, shot a half-time clip and even commented on the game live on Prime Video at the start of the second half.
He also added to the microphone of La Chaîne L’Équipe that he had originally come hoping to play, but the regulations of pro football decided otherwise. It couldn’t have been worse for Malherbe anyway, as the Lower Normandy club once again lost to Paris FC, falling to 15th place in the Ligue 2 standings.
If he pleased the Caen public on site with this show, Orelsan also had a nice surprise: he was able to see the Caen kop pay him a vibrant tribute, with a cover of “The earth is round”:
“Deep down, I like Stade Malherbe,
I don’t know for what reason.
Not only do we just lose,
But in addition we lose at home. “
Last week, Orelsan had charged at West France that he would see himself having an important role in Malherbe, he who already exchanged often with the management in place in Caen:
“I get along well with the staff, I also like talking with Olivier Pickeu [le président du SMC], and I’m happy to do stuff with the Stadium. I don’t really know what else, Pierre-Antoine Capton [le principal actionnaire du SMC] Said he would see me playing an ambassadorial role, but that sounds good to me to be part of the adventure. Malherbe is my favorite club, a central point of the city, and I want to refocus in Caen, where I already spend two-thirds of my time. “
