Fake CovidCheck will soon be deactivated
Among the fake CovidCheck certificates spotted in recent weeks, some are “real passes, established by health professionals,” said Marc Hansen (DP), Minister responsible for Digitization, on Monday. It is therefore not a question of computer hacking, but of abuse on the part of people having access to the system. These QR codes can allow unvaccinated people to access people who are likely to be turned away, such as bars and restaurants.
The government member promised that said certificates will be deactivated quickly, thanks to a new version of the CovidCheck application. The tool does not allow you to delete a valid pass, even for those with names as incongruous as Mickey Mouse or Adolf Hitler. Such cases have been spotted recently.
The prosecution has been informed of the facts and investigations are continuing, the minister repeated. They succeed in tracing the trail of false certificates, in order to discover their authors.
