Charlene de Monaco ill: how long will her convalescence last?
Prince Albert donated to the magazine People some details about the absence of his wife, which could last some time.
Princess Charlene’s return to Monaco was short-lived. After her extended stay in South Africa, Prince Albert’s wife returned to the Rock before leaving it again for treatment. On November 19, Prince Albert explained to the American magazine People that his family had made a decision to help charlene, who suffers from “deep exhaustion”, both physically and morally.
Jacques and Gabrielle’s father explains that his wife is neat away from prying eyes, loin of Monaco, for an indefinite period : “We will visit him but I cannot tell you when. Not in the next few days, but as soon as the medical team gives the green light. With these treatments there is a mandatory period of rest, usually several weeks. I cannot comment at the moment, we will see.“
Right to privacy
But Albert of Monaco also made a point of recalling that the privacy of his wife for ten years had to be preserved : “She needs privacy and we all need it as a family. She must recover in the best possible environment.“He also recalled that their special status was not incompatible with respect for private life : “Even though we are public figures, we can also have health problems and ask for some quiet, as anyone could. Hope everyone will respect this. Let us give ourselves the time we need, let her recover properly and then come back with her family to Monaco.“
