The unbeaten run of the Titano San Marino Basketball was interrupted on the last day of the first leg

Sugar Mizzy November 21, 2021

The unbeaten streak of the Titano Basketball in this 2021-2022 season ends in Fossombrone. After two successes in the Cup and six in the league, Macina and his teammates hit the first knockout at Bartoli Meccanica, with the match ending 59-57. A race that has always been chasing, this one at Bartoli’s home, with the only advantage, of a few seconds, at the start of the second period.

THE CHRONICLE.
Without Dini, on the bench for signing honor for the same knee problem a week ago, the Titans start with the quintet made up of Altavilla, Macina, Raschi, Gamberini and Saponi. The start is favorable to the hosts, who with Pontellini and the three-point game of the former Cambrini fly 5-0. The reaction of the guests is entirely in the hands of Gamberini, who scores the first 9 team points (11 at the end of the quarter) and allows our team to recover after the momentary +7 local (11-4).

Pallacanestro Titano is there to fight and, on Fornaciari’s basket at the start of the second, manages to overtake on 18-19. However, it is the only moment of the game in which our team manage to put their nose forward. The triple of Fontanella is that of the immediate counter-overtake (21-19), with a race that goes from +7 local to single possession of the margin. The first half ends at 33-27, with Fornaciari’s goal at the end of the game for a trifle out of time.

The nasty surprise comes at the beginning of the second half, with Gamberini who is out due to an ankle problem which occurred at the end of the second quarter. Tommy tries to return, but unfortunately he has to raise the white flag after a few seconds. The rotations are acquired but ours try, they do not want to let this opportunity slip away even if they are dealing with an opponent of great value like Fossombrone. She didn’t score much, but Bartoli still managed to reach the first double-digit advantage at 45-35 in the 28th minute, before the Titans reaction at the end of the fourth (45-41).

The last ten minutes begin with another important run by Fossombrone, who flies to 53-41. It’s a very complicated moment, but in the minds of these Titans it is forbidden to give up with so many minutes to go. Defense and heart are there, the will to try as well. The baskets are missing but there are also those, in the form of triples of Saponi (two) and Altavilla. Break of 9-0 outside and everything returns to 53-50 at 4’30 “from the gong. We enter in the last two minutes at 55-54 in an atmosphere of pure battle and each point is worth gold. Fossombrone scores a free with Pagliaro and a fundamental basket with Santi. Now there is more than one possession of the margin, but there is also Raschi who scores from three to -26 “(58-57). From the bezel Rosatti puts only one and the last possession is of the Titans. There is the possibility of equalizing or, with a three-point game, even overtaking, but the action of our team is not effective and becomes unsuccessful. Deservedly wins Fossombrone, first defeat for the Titano Basketball. The top of the table is in any case confirmed.

Next Saturday appointment with the third game of the Centenary Cup, with our players already qualified for the Final Four of 2022. We will play at the home of the Young Basket with a two-ball at 6 pm.Source: Titano San Marino basketball press office)
