The thick plume of smoke was visible from afar. This Sunday, November 21, shortly before noon, a fire broke out in an old pizzeria closed for a long time, located just in front of the Pont de la Maye tram station, in Villenave-d’Ornon.

Significant resources from firefighters were sent to the site. At around 1:30 p.m., they took control of the incident. Two hours later, however, their intervention was still in progress. We do not deplore a victim.

According to residents met on site, the old pizzeria had been closed for more than two years and squatted. This fire triggered disruptions to road traffic and to tram line C. In the middle of the afternoon, the road to Toulouse was still cut on a section and a detour was in place. Interrupted for more than two hours between the Vaclav-Havel stations and the Pyrenees terminus, line C trams were able to resume around 2:30 p.m.
