Pěnčín (Jablonec) – Christmas markets on the Old Town Square in Prague will be decorated with spruce from the Jizera Mountains. The tree, which will measure 21.5 meters after the modification, grew up in a private garden in Dolní Černá Studnice in the Jablonec region in a poorly accessible place. Its felling thus preceded today’s demanding several-day preparation, during which the supplier company had to dismantle some surrounding plots and build a temporary paved road in order for the large tractor to reach the tree at all.
“We chose from 35 trees, this one won due to its shape and rich branching, but I was reluctant for a long time before we gave our thumbs up to undergo such a demanding operation in terms of logistics. But the people of Prague definitely deserve the most beautiful tree. From the beginning, he was the main favorite, the other trees were near Česká Lípa and Šumava, but this one, despite its difficult location, simply won, “Tomáš Jílek, Chairman of the Board of Technology of the Capital City of Prague, told reporters.
The tree is waiting for more than 80 kilometers on the Old Town Square. “Prague does not want to cut down trees unnecessarily, that we would go to the forest and look for the most beautiful one, so a selection is made of trees that would have to be cut down anyway,” said Prague councilor for property Jan Chabr (TOP 09). According to him, the fate of the tree will not end with Christmas. “It will be decorated for the Three Kings, followed by the trimming of the branches that will go to the Prague Zoo.
The Kozderk couple offered the tree in Prague, it is one of two spruces standing on their land. “The problem is, he’s got roots under the road and another in a meadow and an old wreck, and he’s big and the neighbors in the cottage are afraid they won’t fall there, so we thought we both had to cut them down. The wife found out “That is the event Tree for Prague, so we sent it there. Because before it is cut and burned, it will make you happy,” the owner Miloš Kozderka, who remembers both trees as like small trees, told ČTK. But the second of the trees ends up being cut into fuel. “He’s not that nice,” the owner remarked.
The felling and preparation of the tree was undertaken by the champion of the Czech Republic in tree felling Jiří Vorlíček. The tree was secured by a crane all the time, because it was necessary to first remove the lower part of the branches and prepare them according to the template so that it could be settled on the Old Town Square without further modification. The lumberjack also marked the side that will be visible from the astronomical clock on the spruce before placing the tree on the tractor. “When they build it from Monday to Tuesday, they will have it simplified, because it always fits well with artificial lighting,” Vorlíček added.
