Mackmyra recently added its exclusive Moment series, a nod to the original distillery at Mackmyra Mill but also a springboard to the future. Moment Brukswhiskey DLX II is a single malt whiskey that has been stored only in the Bodås mine in Sweden since its original distillation.

The new addition is an ultra-premium version of Mackmyra’s classic Brukswhiskey and is now available in a limited series.

The goal with Mackmyra distilleries was to answer the question of how Mackmyra Brukswhiskey would taste after further maturation and with the help of a smoky recipe.

said Johan Larsson, CEO of Mackmyra in a prepared statement that this new whiskey has undergone an exciting transformation, and highlighted hints of ripe pears, raisins and citrus fruits embedded in a blanket of smoke, peat and juniper.

He said that in the background there are nice and spicy notes of roasted oak and vanilla caramel that are reminiscent of the original recipe, but in a new form. Utility whiskey DLX II is between 9-11 years old, and the color is naturally golden yellow, bottled in 2021 and limited to 1,999 bottles.

“Utility whiskey is a piece of living Swedish whiskey history,” said Larrson. “This expression is a smoky tribute to the original distillery at Mackmyra Mill but also a milestone for whiskey of respectable age.”

• Run: Limited to 1,999 bottles.
• ABV: 44%, or 88 proof.
• Official sales start: November 17, 2021.

• Barrel:
  • Ex-Bourbon (200L), smoke tail recipe. 11 years old;
  • Freshly saturated olorosphate (128L) filled with 5-7 year old ex-bourbon whiskey. Total age 9-11 years old;
  • Swedish oak (100L), filled with 4-year-old ex-Bourbon whiskey. Total age: 9 – 11 years old;
  • Ex-Bourbon (100L), filled with smoke tail from 2010. Stored for 11 years.

Mackmyra is a whiskey created from Swedish raw materials, without any additives, with environmentally friendly distillation technology. Mackmyra has been producing single malt whiskey and organic gin since 2017.
