SVT wants ‘Young Royals’ star Omar Rudberg for the Melodifestivalen 2022

Sugar Mizzy November 21, 2021

He is the former FO&O singer who enjoys international success from the successful Netflix series Young Royals. Now Omar Rudberg is on SVT’s wish list for Melodifestivalen 2022. Also, Aftonbladet has named three more files as confirmed for the Mello: Melfest 2020 singer Faith Kakembo, Idol star William Segerdahl and rappers Niello.

Will Omar Rudberg return to the Melodifestivalen?

Aftonbladet reports that SVT is very keen to include Omar Rudberg as part of Melfest 2022. If he was confirmed, it would be his third time in the competition.

Omar debuted in 2017 as part of his boy band FO&O. Their song “Gotta Thing About You” made it to the grand finale. Omar then made his solo debut in 2019 with “Over and over again”, which did not make it out of its semifinal. He is said to have been in a song for the Melodifestivalen 2021 but did not make it.

But over the past year, Omar has had success with his Netflix hit series Young Royals. In it, Omar plays the boarding student Simon, who begins a relationship with a worried Swedish prince. The series – where Omar’s character sings in the school choir – is a hit and has seen him pick up fans from all over the world.

AftonbladetThe source’s source says that Omar is ready and both SVT and his record company are anxious that he will compete in Mello 2022. The source says that it has already searched for songs and adds “When both SVT and the record company are so positive and want an artist to be with, they also usually manage to find the right song in the end. ”

But another source says that the second series of Young royals can get in the way of Melfest. The recording of the next series will take place in the beginning of 2022 and may clash with the Melodifestivalen. The source says: “It will be difficult for the record company to argue that he should be in a TV show that reaches perhaps three million TV viewers, compared to a TV series with fans around the world.”

Faith Kakembo will make Mello return

Faith debuted at the Melodifestivalen 2020 with the song “Crying Rivers”. It barely failed to get to second chance round. Now Faith will reportedly return to Mello 2022. Aftonbladet’s source was enthusiastic and said: “It’s fantastic that she gets another chance, she’s a fine artist.”

Faith made her breakthrough in 2019 when she reached the finals in the radio talent program P4 Next. When she is not singing, she works as an anesthesia nurse.

Idol star William Segerdahl tipped for Melfest debut

Swedish Idol 2018 star William Segerdahl will reportedly make his debut at the Melodifestivalen … but the singer himself denies that he is in the competition.

While on Idol, William went with Melfest legend Mariette for one show-stopping duet of Lady Gaga’s “Shallow”. He placed third in the series and has released a number of singles including the 2019 song “Problem”. And now, according to Aftonbladet’s several sources, William will make his Melfest debut.

However, the singer himself does not play. Contestants in Melfest may not comment on their participation until after the official announcement. However, William sent a message to Aftonbladet and said “Just read your article, it would be super fun to know which song I am in Mello with haha! It feels like you have more information than I do. ” This means that he may not be part of the Melodifestivalen 2022 after all.

Rapper Niello will also make his Melodifestivalen debut

Another act that will debut at Melfest is the Swedish rapper Niello – also known as Niklas Grahn. He is best known for his single from 2013 “Legends”, but has released a number of other singles over the years.

Niello is said to have sent songs to Melfest in previous years, but Aftonbladet reports that this year he has finally been accepted to the competition.

Melodifestivalen 2022: What we know so far

The Melodifestivalen tour is expected to return in 2022. The semi-finals will take place in Malmö on 5 February 2022, and the grand final will take place in its usual home at Friends Arena in Stockholm on 12 March. The shows – which will take place in six cities and towns around Sweden – will also have a live audience.

Melfest 2022 will be the host Oscar Zia. The triple Melodifestivalen participant and one of the hosts in 2021 will be the main host this season, but he will also be joined by other stars who have not yet been named.

According to Aftonbladet, we already know 18 acts for the Melodifestivalen 2022. They are Robin Bengtsson, Liamoo, Klara Hammarström, Alvaro Estrella, Angelino, Lance Hedman, John Lundvik, Malou Prytz, Theoz, Cazzi Opeia, Medina, Anna Bergendhal, Linda Bengtzing, Tenori, Omar Rudberg, Faith Kakembo, William Segerdahl and Niello.

The confirmed line-up of the Melodifestivalen 2022 is expected to be announced at the end of November.
