success for the Saint-Romain Fair 2021
After a cancellation in 2020 and a 2019 edition spoiled by the fire at the Lubrizol factory, the Saint-Romain fair in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), the second largest funfair in France, experienced a high attendance in 2021.
The Saint-Romain Fair has been held every autumn in Rouen for centuries. It became the first funfair in France after the Paris Throne Fair.
Coming from all over the north-west of France, the fairgrounds set up their rides, attractions, sweets and restaurants for a month of celebration and entertainment. An outing very popular with the Normans, young and old.
After two difficult years and especially a cancellation in 2020, the fairgrounds expected a lot from the 2021 edition of Seine-Maritime finally gave the green light, but with access to the fair reserved for holders of a health pass.
“Everyone had the catch!”
The 2021 edition of the Foire Saint-Romain was a success. The constraints of controlling the sanitary pass and the Vigipirate plan, and their inevitable queues at peak times, have not discouraged fans of croustillons and thrilling rides. The visitors answered present and the fairgrounds, deprived of activity for months, found the smile.
On the last day of the fair, November 21, 2021, a few hours before closing, the fairgrounds were satisfied and told our journalist Arthur Deshayes:
“This year the Saint-Romain brought back a lot of people: since we were confined for 14 months, I think that people wanted to move and go out and it was felt well. it went well! “
There were really, really people!
This year, we are doing a little 20% more than the last Saint-Romain which, in 2019, was not too good. And at the moment, for us it is very appreciable.

With good weather and busy aisles, the 2021 edition of the Foire Saint-Romain is therefore a success. It will be necessary to wait this Monday for the organizing committee of the fair and the town hall of Rouen to communicate the precise figures on the attendance.
After years on the left bank docks, the new location on the Saint-Gervais peninsula seems to satisfy everyone, even if public transport is a little far from the fairgrounds.
