Rome, a mugged motorist, chases the thief on foot and knocks him out with a punch
A robbery late at night, on the Lungotevere and the alleys of the historic center. This time, however, the victim not only called 113 but also attacked the robber. The result was a violent struggle that resulted in the ferment of both contenders but with the result that when the police arrived they did nothing but put the handcuffs on the robber knocked out.
Victim and attacker taken to hospital
Everything happened after 3 am on a stretch of Lungotevere dei Tebaldi not far from Ponte Sisto. A young man of 30 is driving and his younger brother is also on board. There is still the nightlife traffic. The car is lined up when a 40-year-old Moroccan comes into action who leans into the cockpit and snatches the chain from the driver’s neck and then runs away. But the victim gets out of the car and starts chasing the robber along Via dei Pettinari. Where there is the violent struggle. When the police arrive, they find the Moroccan alone lying on the ground stunned. The recently stolen chain is found in one hand. Then, the agents also identify the victim who, in the meantime, has moved away from the robber and who does not deny having had a violent hand-to-hand. During the fight, the robbed man snatched the cell phone from the robber’s hand, which he then spontaneously gave to the police. Eventually both the victim and the assailant were taken to two different hospitals due to the beatings. The driver had a 30-day prognosis for a bruised neck and a broken hand. The Moroccan also had several days of prognosis for the blows received, accusing one eye pain caused by the beating.
The police officers have reconstructed the incident dealing with the robber, an old acquaintance of the police. The foreigner, in fact, did not comply with three orders from the Quaestor to leave Europe, not to mention that he has several criminal records for injuries and robbery. He does not appear to reside in Rome as he is without a permanent home. A kind of crazy splinter, according to investigators, that commits a whole series of crimes every day. It would be noteworthy, on the part of the investigators, the fact that the man acted near the Sisto bridge which often, late at night, becomes a place frequented by foreign drug dealers and robbers.
