There are currently 53 covid patients in UZ Brussel, which is 19 more than last week. Fifteen patients are in intensive care, eleven of which are unvaccinated. That’s about 75 percent. “We’ve had several unvaccinated patients who are also currently on mechanical ventilation. A man told me last night that he regrets not getting vaccinated,” says Domien Vanhonacker.
Political games
According to Vanhonacker, stricter measures are urgently needed. “If you see what measures have been taken, with figures that seem to go towards the first wave, that is not enough.” Vanhonacker also says that nurses indicate that many political games are played. “We are here to work with people’s lives and experience them on a daily basis.” According to Vanhonacker, the government must urgently take action.
