Domien Vanhonacker, intensivist at UZ Brussel, the following corona measures a slap in the face. According to him, they are insufficient to fight the fourth wave. “The government must urgently take action,” he told VTM Nieuws.
There are currently 53 covid patients in UZ Brussel, which is 19 more than last week. Fifteen patients are in intensive care, eleven of which are unvaccinated. That’s about 75 percent. “We’ve had several unvaccinated patients who are also currently on mechanical ventilation. A man told me last night that he regrets not getting vaccinated,” says Domien Vanhonacker.
According to Vanhonacker, stricter measures are urgently needed. “If you see what measures have been taken, with figures that seem to go towards the first wave, that is not enough.” Vanhonacker also says that nurses indicate that many political games are played. “We are here to work with people’s lives and experience them on a daily basis.” According to Vanhonacker, the government must urgently take action.
Care for heavy care is full of corona patients, other vital operations have also been postponed:
