Swedish travelers passed Prague to the Weekend Destination of 2022.
The project, Destination 2022, is a collaboration between Sweden’s largest B2B media, Travel News, and Nordic Bench, which has been regularly mapping trends, travel mood and Swedish travel behavior for several years now.
As part of this year’s online survey, the company addressed over 1,500 Swedes, who also selected the top in three categories during the autumn: weekend, seaside holidays (winner Turkey) and dream holidays (winner Thailand). “The results of the survey show a positive attitude among Swedes and a great desire to travel. This fact is also confirmed by travel agencies, which record an increasing number of reservations for the spring of 2022, “says Lucie Vallin, director of the foreign representation of CzechTourism in Stockholm
“Prague has long been one of the most popular weekend destinations. The Swedes perceive it as a cheap and safe destination. This year we therefore prepared several campaigns on the local market, the goal was to remind the Swedish public of Prague as attractive, “said Lucie Vallin, who together with Anita Grmelová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Sweden, awarded the Weekend Destination of 2022 at Travel News took over. “I believe that unless there is a complete lockdown or other significant restrictions in the Czech Republic, the travel of Swedes to the Czech Republic will probably not be fundamentally affected. Almost 82% of the population in Sweden is already fully vaccinated, ”adds Lucie Vallin.
In 2019, 152,644 Swedes visited the Czech Republic, of which almost 80% visited the capital city of Prague. In 2019, however, the number of tourists from Sweden decreased by 80% compared to 2019, but the regional dispersion increased significantly.
