When the rescue professionals from Schutz & Rettung Zürich (SRZ) arrived at the scene with the fire brigade and medical services, they saw how thick smoke was coming from the fourth floor of an apartment building on Langstrasse. A resident of the affected property had previously called the fire department emergency number 118. She reported that there was a fire in the house and that she could no longer leave her apartment. The SRZ operations control center immediately dispatched the fire brigade’s fire brigade, as well as several ambulances and an emergency doctor.
The professional fire brigade immediately initiates rescue and extinguishing work on site. In the course of this, several residents could be evacuated by the professional fire brigade in cooperation with the Zurich city police and brought to a protected assembly point. The rescue work was complex because of the dense smoke and was made more difficult because several doors were broken open at the same time. One rescued person allegedly suffered smoke inhalation. SHE received first medical care and hospitalized by the paramedics.
After the professional fire brigade had put out the fire, they took measurements to make sure that there was no longer any danger of carbon monoxide. After the war was confirmed, most of the residents were able to die again in their homes.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is being investigated by fire investigators from the Zurich canton police and detectives from the Zurich city police. The professional fire brigade from SRZ is in action with two tank fire engines and a turntable ladder. The SRZ medical service was on site with two ambulances and an emergency doctor.
