Winter in Warsaw. How to help animals? Feeding, basic data, adoption
The capital city hall appeals to the inhabitants of Warsaw to remember about free-living animals in the autumn and winter days. It is not only about feeding the birds, but also about giving the cats access to the cellars.
Officials in the press communication encourage property managers and administrators and all Warsaw residents to facilitate access to the cellars. “The rooms during the autumn and winter competitions and tests are a refuge for free-living cats in the capital” – they argue.
Feeding
As the town hall reminds us, a bird in need of supplementation cares for frost when there is a shortage of insects and plant fruits. The feed should be clean and dry, and the feeders should be cleaned of any remaining food residues on a regular basis. Birds can be fed with cereals, for example, and – in the case of swans and ducks – raw or ready-made, finely chopped vegetables. For bread, cold cuts, pasta, chur and other processed pet food.
Nutrition can take place with the arrival of negative temperatures or snow.
Collection
Autumn and winter are also a cool period for pets in shelters. The “Winter on Paluchu” campaign, organized by Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Oczyszczania and Shelter on Paluchu, continues until November 30th. As part of the initiative for the charges of the facility, blankets, feather-free duvets, bed sheets, carpets, rugs, oaks, gray newspapers and toys are collected. Items can be thrown into specially glued media containers by the MPO at the entrances to the company’s buildings.
The invaluable help of animals from the shelter will be also for the decision to adopt one of the pets.
