The last two seasons were really disastrous for Vitória na Taça. It all started in Sintra
Winner of the Portuguese Cup in 2012/13, against Benfica (2-1), Vitória was present in a final of the competition for the last time in 2016/17.
At Jamor, the Minho team, then commanded by Pedro Martins, would be beaten by Benfica by 2-1 and from then on, the best thing they could do was to compete in four qualifiers. It happened in 2018/19, with Vitória being defeated at home by Benfica, by 0-1, in a game counting for the quarter finals, a season after having fallen at the feet of FC Porto (4-0 defeat at Dragão ) in the eighth.
If these two known seasons were marked by eliminations caused by opponents with greater football potential, the following two ended with much more bitter departures.
In 2019/20, in a sort of interval between the Europa League games (against Eintracht Frankfurt and Arsenal), Vitória would be beaten, in the third round, by the modest Sintra Futebol (4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time), Portugal Championship club that after merged with Estrela da Amadora. In the last season, the Minho were away at home by Santa Clara (0-1), in the fourth round.
