UNICEF Hungary is campaigning for mental health on World Children’s Day
UNICEF Hungary has launched a campaign on the occasion of World Children’s Day. The Face the problem! The initiative draws attention to the fact that young people with mental health problems can only be helped if the problem is not taboo and it is not a shame to ask for help, the organization said in a statement on Saturday.
According to UNICEF Hungary, at least one in seven young people between the ages of 10 and 19 has been diagnosed with a mental disorder worldwide: 9 million adolescents in Europe alone are affected.
According to a recent UNICEF global survey, more than a third of 15-24 year olds report frequent anxiety and nervousness, and almost one in five reported persistent depression and lack of motivation. And as a result of the pandemic, the mental health of an entire generation has now been put at risk, they added.
The organization will help educators from November 20 with a free online course to be able to recognize and, where possible, prevent more serious mental health problems for students entrusted with their care, they wrote.
In the social media, anyone has the opportunity to join UNICEF Hungary ‘s initiative and express the importance of children’ s rights and children ‘s mental health, the statement said.
