Sustainability as a top priority for ABB Bulgaria
Rakov Branch is one of the main charging points for mobile devices in the region, offering free access to 8 AC and 1 DC Terra 54 charging stations. The branch has an electric car, and in the coming years will be the company’s fleet and will be transformed into a fully electric.
Lower energy consumption
At the beginning of the year, the Rakovski branch successfully completed a project to renew all light sources in the two production units, which employ over 1,900 people. The project includes the removal of all current T5 fluorescent lamps and the installation of new LED lights, which improves visibility, efficiency and reduces energy consumption. As a result, the lighting of the production premises has been improved and optimized according to the real need to pay for production areas.
The implementation of this project leads to a reduction in operating costs for maintenance of old lighting fixtures and energy reduction of up to 50 percent, saving 493 MW of power and BGN 80,000 per year, which in turn reduces the carbon footprint of the facility.
Energy and asset management
The integration of ABB Ability ™ is the next project planned for this year, which through energy monitoring and activity management will allow accurate statistics and a broad view of the energy efficiency of plants. This software innovation will enable real-time, data-driven solutions for safer and smarter operations that maximize resource efficiency and have a low-carbon future.
