PCR gargle tests in Salzburg: ban for positive tested evaluation should accelerate
A 21-day ban for people who tested positive is to be introduced. According to Novogenia, the issue is already having an effect. In addition, a modified pooling procedure should lead to faster test results.
A new regulation is now intended to alleviate the capacity problems in the evaluation of those PCR tests that are only available in Spar stores in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Salzburg. Because the evaluation of the numerous tests submitted continues to be an enormous challenge, there will be a 21-day ban for people who have already tested positive from Monday, the Novogenia biotech laboratory, which is handling the gargle tests, informed on Saturday.
People who die already know that they are regular from Covid-19, be it no longer possible due to the 21-day ban
In addition, for every single person who submits a PCR test for analysis, there will be a ban on the minimum validity period of the PCR tests, for 48 hours from the time when “Test Now” is clicked. A new sample submission is therefore possible after 48 hours at the earliest.
People who have already tested positive can perform a PCR test again after 21 days. “For the so-called free testing from an official segregation, the gurgle tests are not permitted – this is favored by the health authorities,” said the company, based in Eugendorf in the Salzburg Flachgau region, in a broadcast on Saturday.
Because of the number of infected samples in the past few days and weeks, there were sometimes long waiting times for the test results. Therefore, according to Novogenia, it will be asked immediately and separately whether customers already have symptoms or have already tested positive.
The new spending restrictions in place since Monday in the form of online registration and the increased logistics are already having an initial effect, it was explained. The system of registration and the 20-minute period with the associated ban for one week would have made it easier for them to relax. Sufficient test kits are now available in most of them.
I also helped Spar organize additional test kits. “With the support of the armed forces, 350,000 tests were put together every day.” The availability in the issuing points at Spar is currently still given.
According to the laboratory, the limited edition of the test kits relieves the pooling analysis process. The procedure is now being evaluated. At Novogenia, ten samples have always been pooled and evaluated together. A positive sample in a pool also means that ten more evaluations are required to determine which people in that pool tested positive, which led to delays in the evaluation. In the future, according to the company spokesman, there will be smaller pools that should improve the situation, and one also expects relaxation because of the lockdown imposed on Monday.
