Michael Vogt and Simon Friedli in the top ten
The bobsleigh entourage started in Innsbruck in the Olympic season – and in the two-man race on Saturday two Swiss sledges make it into the top ten.
Michael Vogt from Schwyz races to 7th place. Last year’s overall third place in the World Cup already took this place after the first run, and Vogt confirmed it in the second run.
Compatriot Simon Friedli doesn’t quite succeed. After the first run, the man from Solothurn occupied the 8th position, but then fell behind. But Friedli also started in 9th place with a top ten place in the Olympic winter.
Bob-Schumi Friedrich destroys the enemy
At the very front there is the old picture in the new season. Bobsleigh high-flyer Francesco Friedrich wins again for the first time. The German is with his monster lead of 0.47 seconds on the second-placed compatriot Johannes Lochner through the tariff.
Switzerland also ranks 8th among women. It is Melanie Hasler who finishes in the top ten in the monobob race. Martina Fontanive, on the other hand, missed the qualification for the second run, the Zurich native has to be satisfied with 21st place.
On Sunday in Innsbruck the women’s twos and the men’s fours whiz through the ice channel. (md)
