[J14] Monaco – LOSC: Tops and flops
Author of a perfect start with two goals, LOSC once again spoiled everything in Monaco (2-2). Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men let slip two points in the last ten minutes. Discover our tops and flops of this fourteenth day of Ligue 1.
The hights
An idyllic start
Even if he only obtained the draw in the key, LOSC had started the meeting in a splendid way. Showing a huge draft of energies, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men chained the assaults. In search of efficiency for a few games, the Mastiffs have been surgical for eight minutes. Two forays into the opponent’s area, two goals. The first is offered by Xeka, collapsing in the area for a penalty that will transform David, after two short minutes. The second is registered in the eighth minute with the Canadian still in charge. In the twentieth minute, the northern club will continue the assaults without, however, pinch Until a meeting.
A solid central hinge
Dominated by the head and shoulders from the half hour of play, LOSC has long delayed the deadline against ASM. All thanks to a José Fonte – Thiago Djalo pair of great evenings. If the captain of the Mastiffs had a meeting of good bills, she is not at the same level as her compatriot. Holder since the injury of Sven Botman, Djalo continues to score points on each of his outings. The Portuguese delivered an exceptional defensive performance. With a sublime rescue on his line on a stroke of mischief from Volland, but also an incalculable number of decisive defensive return, Djalo allowed his team not to sink in the second half.
The flops
A David-dependent attack
But what would LOSC want without its fetish? Scoring his ninth and tenth goal, Jonathan David stole the crown of top scorer in the championship from Gaëtan Laborde. Indispensable, he is involved in nine of Lille’s last goals. Apart from the performance of the Canadian, the Lille offensives were not or almost dangerous. Only Ikoné tried to sound the revolt, but remained too discreet. Weah also did not show an exceptional match, too imprecise in his catch of balls and in the finish. David was also not helped by a ghostly Yazici. Coming into play in the last minutes, Lihadji and Yilmaz were unable to give back the spark of the start of the match, even if the Turk tried his hand before the final whistle.
The inability to kill the match
Dominating during the first twenty-five minutes, the LOSC showed too much clumsiness to definitively close the meeting. Jonathan Ikoné, Timothy Weah and even Jonathan David came across a Nübel very attentive to each ball in his area. Unable to register the third but synonymous with a mass blow for the Monegasques, the LOSC once again lost points at the end of the match. Indeed, the men of Jocelyn Gourvennec are bad students in this area. The Mastiffs have lost eight points in the last fifteen minutes this season in Ligue 1, no team does worse in the top flight.
