Country delivered vaccination of children
politics
The state of Salzburg is starting preparations for vaccinating children against CoV. Most recently, there were a particularly high number of infections in children – but vaccines for children have not yet been officially approved. But it should start next week anyway.
The vaccination of children under the age of twelve is a very controversial issue, especially among parents. While many completely reject this, others can hardly wait.
40 paediatricians nationwide and our own vaccination route
The European Medicines Agency EMA will decide on November 24th whether Biontech-Pfizer’s vaccine will also be recommended for five to eleven year olds. That also applies as good as fixed. On the same day, the EU Commission and Austria’s National Vaccination Committee are likely to give the green light. Then the vaccinations of the children should start. The state mainly relies on the almost 40 paediatricians throughout the state.
In the city of Salzburg there should also be a special vaccination route for children, ends coordinator Rainer Pusch. A central registration office is to be created for registrations. Most of the children who die are likely to be registered directly with the pediatricians for the vaccination.
Six paediatricians are already vaccinating
Some children from Salzburg are already being vaccinated. This has not yet been expressly recommended, but is not prohibited. According to Holger Förster, pediatrician and vaccination consultant in the Salzburg Medical Association, six paediatricians across the state have already administered CoV vaccinations to children. But the waiting times are still very long.
