Corona numbers: 15,297 new infections on Saturday
On average, there were 13,496 new cases every day in the past week. 524 seriously ill patients have to be treated in intensive care units, four more than the day before. There are 2,881 infected people in the hospital across Austria, ten more than on Thursday.

The number of hospital patients continues to rise
Within a week there was an increase of 26.2 percent among hospital patients, in total When 599 more infected people were treated inpatient than a week ago. Vaccination rate scratches 66 percent
There were also 144,442 confirmed active cases in Austria on Saturday, 5,601 more than the previous day. 117,536 vaccinations were carried out on Friday, which is well above the seven-day average of 85,939 immunizations per day. The majority, 83,734, was attributable to third-party stitches; 12.3 percent of the population have now received this type of stitches. There were only 17,170 first vaccinations on Friday. In Vienna, 30,788 Covid vaccinations were administered on Friday, more than ever since the start of the immunizations. 5.88 million Austrians have valid vaccination protection, that is 65.9 percent of the total population. In the past week, 64,801 were added. According to the data in the e-vaccination pass, a total of 6,207,763 people have already received at least one vaccination.

1,606 new infections in Salzburg
There have already been 1,042,571 confirmed cases in Austria since the start of the pandemic. 886,136 people are considered to have recovered. The highest number of new infections since Friday reported again Upper Austria with 3,377, in Lower Austria it was 2,442. 1,870 more infected people were added in Vienna, 1,764 in Carinthia, 1,606 in Salzburg, 1,581 in Tyrol and 1,514 in Styria. In Vorarlberg there were 788 new cases in 24 hours and in Burgenland 355.

In the last 24 hours, 582,068 rapid PCR and antigen tests were registered throughout Austria. Of these, 413,453 were meaningful PCR tests, of which 3.7 percent were positive. However, not all federal states and laboratories report negative test results in order to prevent the epidemiological reporting system (EMS) from collapsing.
With regard to the vaccination rates by age group, 57.7 percent of the twelve to 24 year olds have a valid vaccination certificate, in the age group of 25 to 34 years the rate is 64.4 percent and among the 35 to 44 year olds 69.4 percent. 73.2 percent of people between 45 and 54 years of age are demonstrably protected against Covid-19 with a certificate, 81.2 percent in the 55 to 64 group. The 65 to 74 year olds have a quote of 85.5 percent who 75- to 84-year-olds 90.1 percent and the group 85plus 90.4 percent. For children up to years of age who are currently only vaccinated “off label”, 0.3 percent are reported.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 72.4 percent. In Lower Austria, 68.4 percent of the population have valid vaccination protection, in Styria 66.2 percent. After Vienna (65.1), Tyrol (64.6), Vorarlberg (63.3), Carinthia (62.5) and Salzburg (62.2) Upper Austria brings up the rear with 61.1 percent.
