Awards – Hanover – German theater prize “Der Faust” is awarded – Society
Hanover (dpa) – The German theater prize “Der Faust” is awarded today. Originally a gala with many guests was planned, but due to the corona situation, the undoped prize is only awarded online – according to the German Stage Association, the award ceremony will be broadcast live on the stage association’s website. The organizers explain why a 2G event is possible, but not carefree encounters at a joint party afterwards. Nationwide trips that increase the risk of infection should also be avoided.
The solidarity of the arts should be in the foreground, which is why special formats that emerged from the pandemic should be presented. This year the actress Nicole Heesters (84) receives the theater prize “Der Faust” for her life’s work. The laureate, the laureate of the perspective award of the federal states, will only be taken for granted that evening.
The organizers and sponsors are the state of Lower Saxony, the cultural foundation of the federal states, the German Academy of Performing Arts and the German stage association. The Staatstheater Hannover was already involved in the digital Faust award last year after the originally planned live evening had to be canceled due to corona.
