Anthony Yigit falls ill, withdraws from planned return trip in Sweden
Gothenburg, Sweden – On Friday night, the former EBU champion and two-time world champion Anthony Yigit (24-2-1) was scheduled to start his comeback after the stop loss against Rolly Romero and he was ready to receive the Czech companion Miroslav Serban from yesterday (13-7) in a six rounder in welterweight at Bulldog Fight Night.
But during the night, Yigit became ill and was forced to pull out.
Lightweight debutant Costas Nanga made his professional debut and stopped Serbian Dusan Stojanovic (1-7) at the start of the second round. Stojanovic floored in the first and withdrew with what appeared to be an alleged shoulder injury. Nanga is trained by Luis Lagermann, who was part of the Angelo Dundee / Gary Trevett team in the past.
The show, a big mixed MMA, Muay Thai and professional boxing event, went too full and in boxing’s super middleweight Hamza Barka (3-1) won a close four decisive over Albanian Marius Skuqi (0-3) in a messy match that the visitor seemed to edge.
Female superwelter Marianne Ahlborg (5-0) stopped the incompetent newcomer Lili Jumali in second when Jumali’s corner girl wisely threw in the towel.
Ahlborg will now challenge for the vacant EBU title against Priscilla Peterle in France in February.
