After the highest number of cases within a day since the beginning of the pandemic was reached last week, another record number of cases was equalized on Friday. That emerges from the figures published by the Statistical Office on Saturday.
Over the past seven days, an average of 44.7 new cases were reported per day. This is the highest 7-day average since the pandemic began. The previous high averaged 43.4 falls per day and was reached on December 24, 2020.
The 7-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants is 805 cases, which consequently also represents a record value. The 7-day incidence is basically the same number as the 7-day average – it is simply extrapolated to 100,000 inhabitants for the purpose of international comparisons.
The projected 14-day incidence is 1147 cases. That means, in the last 14 days, 1147 people are extrapolated to 100,000 inhabitants. On the other hand, that is not yet a high. The 14-day incidence was even higher from December 23, 2020 to January 1, 2021.
The cumulative number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic now amounts to 4089 laboratory-confirmed infections.
The Statistical Office did not provide information on the number of people who have already survived the infection, the deceased or the current hospitalized people on Saturday – as is usual on public holidays and weekends.
