Two new political groups are born in Toulouse following the divorce of Archipel Citoyen
Citizen Archipelago is not anymore. The announcement was made during the last City Council. The political formation presented itself previously as the alternative to the current mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc to make Toulouse “an ecological city, more democratic and united”. The municipal opposition group is now split into two new entities. On the one hand, the Toulouse Ecologist Group, united and citizen, and on the other Alternative Municipalist Citizen.
The separation would be due to discrepancies. “Our different approaches to a municipal opposition need to find their full expression to strengthen our actions,” the members explained in a statement. Their effectiveness in the municipal opposition would also come into play. “Today, more than ever, we can underline the attention we pay to our work as elected representatives of the opposition to Jean-Luc Moudenc and his world”, they declare. The list was indeed gathered for the municipal elections of 2020.
The new organization
Within the Toulouse group environmentalist, united and citizen Michèle Bleuse, Hélène Cabanes, Romain Cujives, Isabelle Hardy and Antoine Maurice, now president of the group, will be grouped together. Among the members of ACitizen Municipalist alternative, the Toulouse residents will find Aymeric Deheurles, Jamal El Arch, Caroline Honvault, Odile Maurin, and François Piquemal. This second group will be gathered around two co-presidents, Agathe Roby and Maxime Le Texier.
On the other hand, two elected officials find themselves unregistered. They are Hélène Magdo and Julienne Mukabucyana. Things seem to be going without any animosity. “As we are already doing in the Metropolis, we continue to combine our voices and our skills to make heard another vision of the future of Toulouse”, conclude the now ex-members of Archipel Citoyen.
