Toulouse metro: to identify the bank codes of travelers, two teenagers paralyze contactless payment
To retrieve the bank codes of use of the Toulouse metro, two teenagers put contactless out of service. The police put an end to their merry-go-round.
Very young, but already seasoned in deviousness. Two young adolescents caught the attention of the police services and in particular the departmental service for securing public transport, this Thursday afternoon in Toulouse.
A police officer first spotted two young girls with suspicious behavior in the Esquirol metro station. He also drew the attention of his colleagues from the video protection operators of Tisséo and the city of Toulouse. They quickly realized that the policeman had got it right. At a cash dispenser, the two teenagers got down to affixing a tape on the contactless terminal to trigger a malfunction so that users are forced to insert their cards and, above all, to type in their secret code.
Police officers, video operators, continued to discreetly follow the suspects and noticed that they were interested in a woman who was taking the elevator to the Saint-Cyprien metro station. The two young girls entered the same elevator before turning back to take the metro in the direction of Basso-Cambo.
A little later, the cameras of the city of Toulouse again spotted the teenagers at an ATM. The police went to meet them and one of them tried to hide something in her bra. She ended up handing over the bank card of the victim who hadn’t noticed anything.
On them, the thieves, aged 13 and 15, had other things to “declare”. They had had time to withdraw € 1,000 from the victim’s account which they had, once again, hidden in their bras.
Arrested, they were taken into custody to explain themselves. At the end, they should be presented to the minor prosecutor’s office.
