Complaint, arrest and indictment

It is on Monday February 8, 2021 that Juliette, a 20-year-old student at Sciences Po, disseminates her testimony on social networks. ” I was raped. These raw words are hard to pronounce, almost impossible to write, ”she said on Twitter and Instagram.

Three days later, a 22-year-old student was taken into police custody as part of a preliminary investigation for rape, after a complaint filed by the young girl.

His innocence has been restored

The last few weeks have seen the case take a decisive turn. As confirmed by M^e Séverine Bouchaïb, one of the accused’s lawyers, at Toulouse news, the young man of 22 years old a bleached summer.

“The result of these investigations confirmed the absence of constraint within the framework of the reports that our client had been able to have with the victim ”, engages the lawyer.

“In the context of contradictory exchanges, the investigations which were able to be launched with charge and with defense, and it is the goal of an investigation, made it possible to be able, in an almost assured way, his innocence.”

Pressure “that will leave traces”

The lawyer does not fail to recall the media twist of the story. “Our client was stigmatized in a movement and symbolized the sexual abusers in higher education institutions. It started with the # scienceporc procedure… ”

This pressure of several months will, in any case, leave traces. It was very violent. This surge isolated him completely and locked him in a role he was not able to carry since he was completely innocent. But he is a strong, combative person, who is now keen to move on since we know, in the public debate, that he was wrongly accused, but above all too quickly.

M^e Séverine Bouchaïb wants this affair to serve as an example: “We hope that everyone will be able to become aware that it is important to have a little distance and to be a little reasonable when this type of business arises. We must allow time for justice to be able to do its work ”
