Innsbruck – Every year 780,000 kilometers more, almost once the distance to the moon and back again, will be covered by the train in Tyrol from the timetable change on December 12th. The trains travel a full 8.5 million kilometers across the country. More than ever. There is also a lot going on with the buses.
Local public transport is being expanded. This can be seen in the new Cityjet Xpress (CJX) between Innsbruck and Kufstein. This will serve seven stations 17 times a day, including the new stop at the Innsbruck exhibition center. It takes three quarters of an hour to travel on this route, about as long as a Railjet. This is made possible, among other things, by two new train sets. At the same time, the hourly regional express connection from Innsbruck train station in the Oberland will be extended into the evening hours. Long-distance traffic is being expanded: in future there will be a direct train between Innsbruck and Frankfurt am Main and a connection from Innsbruck to Paris, but there will be no change to the night train in Salzburg.
There will also be innovations in the regional buses. For example, the 160X line in Reutte should have two additional courses in the evening or the Axam district of Kristen should be used more frequently. Details on the timetable change are available on the Internet at
“We are ringing in the Tyrolean Year of Rails,” said Deputy Governor Ingrid Felipe yesterday when presenting the innovations. René Zumtobel, Regional Manager of the Federal Railways (ÖBB), emphasizes: “In the coming year we will expand our range by kilometers, more than half of it in Tyrol.”
Alexander Jug, managing director of the Tiroler Verkehrsverbund, said: “In order for even more people to switch to public transport, a growing range of offers is particularly important.” the lines you use most. ” (Mac)
