The post office in Prague promised a barrier-free ramp for 3 months, but construction is being postponed
“I regularly remind the Czech Post, most recently about last week. I get quite a few suggestions from people about this thing, for which the ramp is really important, “said the mayor of Prague 3 Jiří Ptáček to iDNES.cz.
“The one who has to build the ramp is the Czech Post. The last information I have is that they have entered it and the project is under development. I have a feeling that their initial estimates were quite interesting, “the mayor added.
Czech Post spokesman Matyáš Vitík confirmed that the company that produces the construction of the ramp is selected. “We managed to secure a company that will prepare it for us. We handed over the necessary documents to the authorized authorities last week. Once we get their comments, we can talk about the building permit. But now we will have to wait, “he said.
Recently, the management of the post office stated that the construction of the ramp would be solved “in a matter of weeks, maximum months”. However, by the end of the year, customers with reduced mobility or, for example, mothers with prams will not receive a new barrier-free access, mainly due to the number of confirmations that need to be processed.
“We hoped it would be a simple repair, but we needed a lot more confirmation, we thought,” Vitík said. The statement is given, for example, by the fire brigade, the environmental department or the transport department, but also by the hygienic station or the monument institute.
It is possible to use the barrier-free access, which is located about twenty meters from the main entrance. “Here we handle clients who cannot get up the stairs to the branch. The marking of this entrance is visible on the facade of the post office, “the spokesman described.
