Lavrov hopes that the intergovernmental committee will solve the problems of Russian companies in Sweden – Russian politics and diplomacy

Russia expects the Joint Russian-Swedish Monitoring Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which has resumed operations, to eliminate the difficulties facing Russian companies in the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with the OSCE President-in-Office. , Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde.
Lavrov drew the attention of his Swedish colleague to the fact that despite the “well-known and natural contradictions”, the parties have “good opportunities for cooperation” in a variety of areas, including trade, economics, investment, ecology, cultural and humanitarian projects, health and social issues.
“We welcomed the resumption of activities of the Joint Russian-Swedish Monitoring Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation after an eight-year hiatus,” the minister continued. “Its regular session was held in Stockholm a month ago, and the participants discussed future work in this direction,” he noted.
At the same time, according to Lavrov, there are “certain problems” in the talks between Moscow and Stockholm when it comes to securing the activities of Russian companies on the territory of the Kingdom. “Let us hope that these issues can be addressed within the framework of the intergovernmental committee. In turn, we do our best to provide favorable conditions for the Swedish business community’s activities in our country,” Lavrov emphasized.
