Insurance for restaurants and event organizers is growing – Berlin.de
The discussion about further restrictions in the corona pandemic is causing great uncertainty in the catering, hotel and event industries. About 300 to 400 calls were currently received by the Hotel and Restaurant Association Berlin (Dehoga) on the applicable rules, said Managing Director Thomas Lengfelder on Friday. “There are mass cancellations in the area of the Christmas party”. A first quick survey shows that an average of 30 percent of the events have been canceled – and the trend is rising.
In the event industry, too, there are more and more cancellations, according to the Berlin Music Commission. “Because you do not know exactly under what conditions what is possible, the uncertainty grows,” said a spokesman. This leads to concerts or events being canceled again.
The industry associations hope that the 2G regulation that has been in force since last Monday will remain in Berlin. After that, only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered have access to restaurants, cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries or concert halls, but not those who have not been vaccinated (3G). This does not apply to people who have not yet reached the age of 18 and those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. Even stricter rules for the need for tests or other restrictions could also have a counterproductive effect, according to the industry.
