In Lisbon and Vale do Tejo alone, 900 new cases were diagnosed. Incidence triggers and Rt rises slightly
The epidemiological bulletin, released this Friday by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), reveals that Portugal registered 2,628 new cases of covid-19 and five deaths associated with the disease in the last 24 hours. It should be noted that this is the third consecutive day that the country has registered more than two thousand daily infections. With these data, the number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic already rises to 1,117,451 and the number of fatal deaths rose to 18,300.
Lisboa e Vale do Tejo continues to update more new infections: in the last 24 hours alone the region reported 900 new cases. It is followed by the North, with 592, the Center, with 458, the Algarve, with 225, and the Alentejo, with 91. In the Madeira archipelago there are more than 63 infected and in the Azores another 42.
Of the five deaths, two occurred in the Center, one in the North, one in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and one in Madeira.
The number of hospitalized people increased again, albeit mildly. There are now 528 patients admitted to Portuguese hospitals due to covid-19, five more than yesterday. Of these, 79, seven more than in the last balance, are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units.
On the other hand, another 1,230 people beat the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered to 1,056,880.
There are now 42,272 active cases in the country, 1,136 more than yesterday, and health authorities have 40,713 contacts under surveillance.
The incidence and transmissibility ratio (Rt) values were informed this Friday and the risk matrix results from a situation experienced in the country: Portugal remains in the red zone, with incidence and Rt increasing with each update.
The national report rose from 173.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days to 191.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. When considering only the continental territory, a treaty is 190.9 and it was 172.9.
The national Rt remained at 1.17, but on the mainland it rose from 1.17 to 1.18.
Today’s bulletin also brings an update on the geographic distribution of cases. There are four municipalities in Portugal at extreme risk of infection: Marvão, where the situation is more serious, with 2,451 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, Mora, with 1,338 cases, Murça, with 982 cases, and Pampilhosa da Serra , with 967 cases.
