bus or tram, elected officials voted for the next public transport network around the lake
The Community Council of Grand Annecy decided, this Thursday, November 18, on the next public transport network on its own integral site (TCSPI) of the agglomeration. A tram and buses with a high level of service are to be set up, in the years to come, on the shores of the lake.
The meeting was expected by many. This Thursday evening, November 18, the community council of Grand Annecy met almost entirely – 94 of the 95 elected officials were present – to decide on the next public transport network on its own integral site (TCSPI) of the agglomeration.
This folder, pbe one of the most important of this mandate, was expected for decades. It must define, in the long term, the facilities and transport around the lake.
Bus or tram? After agreeing on a star route with five branches that meet in the center of Annecy, they had to decide, this Thursday, on the mode of transport.
Six scenarios were proposed to local elected officials. After three hours of debate, the votes are directed towards two possibilities:
- case E (a tram between Seynod and Pringy as well as a high-level service bus (BHNS) on the west bank), favored by the mayor François Astorg and his predecessor Jean-Luc Rigaut;
- the case F (a network entirely defined by a BRT), acclaimed in particular by Frédérique Lardet, president of the Grand Annecy, and its vice-president for active mobility, Didier Sarda.
After the vote, scenario E was preferred by 45 votes against 44 for case F. Four people voted blank and one abstained.
The mayor of Annecy, François Astorg, can be delighted with this decision, he who had put forward, at the time of his intervention, an online consultation of Annecy people who had gathered 3 174 reviews, including 66 % were in favor of a tram: “I was committed to defending the choice of the city of Annecy. There is nothing to brag about, there is only one voice but the project continues.”
A decisive step has been taken, the story begins.
François Astorg, EELV mayor of Annecy.
“We are going to have a full clean site, it’s a first victory. A decisive step has been taken, the story begins”, suit the mayor EELV.
“I am happy to be the president of public transport on its own full site in Annecy”, however welcomed Frédérique Lardet, despite a review that did not go in its direction.
The preferred option would require more than 100 million euros in additional funding. A cost that could be amortized with an extension of the term of the loans.
If this vote is historic on the scale of the agglomeration and its 208,000 inhabitants, the projects are still far from being launched. At a next community council, on December 16, elected officials will log on the first two lines to be put into service. A period of several months, if not years, of technical studies will follow.
