The man who had provided a weapon to Merah arrested in his district of Izards
A police operation carried out Wednesday evening in the Izards district in Toulouse led to the arrest of Fettah Malki. The 38-year-old man, originally from the neighborhood, has been back in the Pink City since this summer after serving his sentence in the Merah case. The arrest of which he was the subject on Wednesday is linked to the violation of his house arrest, indicates the Toulouse prosecutor’s office to 20 minutes.
Placed on his release from prison at the Cornaarrieu detention center, the thirty-something who arrived in France at the age of 10, is in fact subject to an expulsion procedure to Algeria that his lawyers are contesting. The address to which he is assigned is not in the Izards district where his family lives. Referred to the prosecution this Thursday morning, he must be judged Monday in immediate comparison.
Sentenced to ten years in the Merah case
Fettah Malki, childhood friend of the scooter killer, is the one who provided him with the submachine gun and bulletproof vest used in the killings in Toulouse and Montauban. Arrested and imprisoned in 2013, he has always denied having knowledge of Mohamed Merah’s murderous designs.
In 2019, the Special Assize Court of Paris sentenced him to ten years in prison, without accepting the terrorist nature of the acts with which he was accused.
