The City of Paris unveils the results of its action towards seniors … and its ambitions by 2026
Véronique Levieux, the Deputy Mayor of Paris in particular in charge of seniors, presented to the Paris Council the results of the “Seniors in Paris” 2017-2021 plan, as well as the methods for developing the 2022-2026 plan.
Faced with the diversity of situations experienced by senior Parisians, the City of Paris has embarked on the development of schemes promoting the city’s adaptation to advancing age.
The results of this plan, presented to the last Council of Paris, testify to the many progress and measures put in place on the Parisian territory, in particular, as the town hall explains: “The financing of aid dedicated to home support for Parisians (APA at home and municipal aid), to the tune of 120 million euros per year to support dependency (APA in establishment and social assistance), Amounting to 130 million euros per year; the creation of 615 EHPAD places since 2017 and the rehabilitation of several establishments of the City of Paris Social Action Center; the development of several intergenerational projects involving nurseries, schools and EHPAD; the creation of 6 Homes for Seniors and Caregivers; the creation of the first shared accommodation for LGBT + seniors; the development and diversification of the activities of the 65 senior clubs of the CASVP; or the free Pass Paris Seniors for 115,000 Parisians “.
In addition, since 2017 and especially during the crisis, the City of Paris has “stepped up its actions to fight against isolation by creating the support structure Paris en Compagnie, which now has 4,000 volunteers and 1,300 seniors monitored”.
The City of Paris is now preparing to start work on developing its next senior plan, which will cover the period 2022-2026.
