The PTT have found their smile again
Two years after his demotion from N2 after an almost nightmarish season, the Caen club is smiling again. Dominique Duvivier, his new trainer, is unanimous. And with the exception of the Rennes faux pas, the results are therefore excellent. “We are trying to move forward step by step and go for the 10, 12 or 15 victories which will allow us to find a maintenance quite easily and a ranking at the top of the table, of course”, comments Dominique Duvivier. The latter expects a special season.
This season is going to be complicated for all the teams because there will inevitably be a soft spot at some point, because the clubs have not had a full season for two years. A lot can happen from one game to another.
The ASPTT Caen therefore aspires to garner before evoking more precise ambitions. The stability of its workforce has surely helped it to have a head start at the start of this new exercise. “It’s easier for me to get back a team that was already working and that knows each other well,” continues the Caen coach. It was a blessing to start the year like this. Over the full season, we may miss one or two rotations. ”
“You have to go to N2”
Nevertheless, Caen’s short or medium term plan is clear. “The N3, it’s nice, but on a desire to see above. You have to go to N2, you have to go as high as possible. Dominique Duvivier wants to be resolutely ambitious.
We will do everything to finish as high as possible. From the moment I enter the field, it’s to win. Otherwise, we don’t compete. If this rise occurred, I think that the club did not refuse it. But if we finish third, I don’t think I would be fired (smile).
The prospects are all the more interesting as Caen “is a city of volleyball”, according to the new technician. “There are already a lot of people in the gym, it’s great. There will be an audience if we go to the next level. “To find the Nationale 2 and, finally, to stabilize there, that is all that the PTT wants …
