Russia delivered over 670 tons of sunflower oil to Cuba under the UN program – Society
HAVANA, November 18. / TASS /. Acceptance of goods through the World Food Program (WFP) system under the auspices of the United Nations took place on Thursday in the Cuban capital. The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Havana Andrei Guskov, WFP representative on the island Paolo Mattei and Cuban officials.
Russia has allocated to the Caribbean republic more than 670 tons of sunflower oil worth about $ 3 million. It will be distributed free of charge among the citizens of the country.
“The food aid delivered today is a reflection of the sincere friendship and longstanding relationship of solidarity that binds Russia and Cuba together. He noted that 516 tons of sunflower oil were delivered to Havana, and another 157 tons to the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
Since 2018, the total amount of WFP donations from Russia to Cuba has exceeded $ 11 million. Part of this funds has been allocated to support the school feeding system for the period 2020-2024.
