In Toulouse, the Saint-Exupéry private clinic is getting a makeover
Formerly attached to the Saint-Jean du Languedoc clinic, the Saint-Exupéry clinic recently underwent a deep transformation. After three years of works the amount of 50 million euros, it doubled its surface with the creation of a new building of 10,000 m².
This renovation project responds to two main challenges: develop a local and multidisciplinary health offer. Rehabilitation medical care unit, nephrology, internal medicine service or even complete radiology center are all new services available to patients.
A multidisciplinary healthcare offer
If the clinic is recognized for its specialization in the treatment of kidney disease, this project renovation supported for ten years by the management now offers a multidisciplinary healthcare offer. “Before, we tended to take care of the patient in a fragmented way, with a plurality of actors and medical technical acts”, the president of the clinic.
But the lack of coordination and dialogue between the teams was glaring. Especially on chronic diseases “, admits Vincent Lacombe to The Independent Opinion. Henceforth, the clinic therefore integrates a multidisciplinary consultation platform spread over three floors. The goal: “to provide patients with the most accurate medical response possible”, adds the president.
And proximity
This consultation platform is open to residents of the area in order to enable them to find a nearby health offer. “The Saint Jean du Languedoc clinic a move to Quint-Fonsegrives for merger with La Croix du Sud. And our revamped clinic becomes the the only advanced consultation offer to patients on the right bank of Toulouse», Emphasizes Vincent Lacombe.
In all, the plateau presents a around sixty practitioners medical and paramedicals spread over 25 disciplines. Ophthalmology, gynecology, cardiology and diabetes are all disciplines accessible to all. Since September, the clinic has also acquired a new radiology center located on the ground floor. It includes “an MRI, a scanner and an ultrasound machine”, details the president. In fact no Medical analysis laboratory is also available to the public on the same floor.
An internal medicine department
Another major innovation in the clinic: the introduction of a internal medicine department. The latter is located on the 2nd floor. He will understand three hyperspecialists / generalists rare or new diseases. “MRI, appointment with the gastroenterologist, pulmonologist or neurologist, the patient can thus concentrate a whole battery of exams over a half or a day complete “, explains the president. This support will therefore be” more effective “, according to him.” Today, our health system suffers from too long response times. Here, the intern will be able to make a diagnosis and initiate faster therapy“, he adds.
A rehabilitation medical unit
The other important innovation of the clinic is the creation of a rehabilitation medical care unit (SSR) for renal failure. it’s about the first in Occitania. “Usually, these units are located in peripheral and non-urban areas. For families, spouses or caregivers, it makes visits more complex,” admits Vincent Lacombe. This unit is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the clinic. She is supposed to empower the patient so that he returns home in the best possible conditions.
“And make sure that it does not come back into a boomerang”, adds the president. Composed in total of 45 beds, the unit thus offers occupational therapy, physiotherapy, educational workshops depending on the pathologies and even the dietetic. All in a bright space with large bay windows and facing a therapeutic garden on the terrace. Since 2016, the clinic has almost doubled its staff. It went from 150 to 270 employees. And she also continues to develop her dialysis activity in its local centers in the department.
