Ecoplanet | Avignon: a sports relay for the planet
Leaving Chamonix on November 12, the Planète Sports relay made a stopover in Avignon yesterday. After having retrieved the letter which acts as a witness courier, a dozen kayakers will join Arles as of today, where other athletes will take over. And so on until Nice, the final stage of the route. In total, a participation of sportsmen, amateurs or professionals, volunteered to participate in this first edition of this multisport relay. Cycling, paragliding, sailing, paddle boarding, kitesurfing, a total of ten different practices are represented. Organized by associations of environmental defenders, local clubs and federations, its objective is simple: to use the unifying power of sport to call for a practice that is more respectful of the environment. Etscience. To do this, round tables, conferences and meetings are organized in each stopover town to raise awareness among the population. In Avignon, while strolling in the city, you may see in front of certain manholes, graffiti “The sea begins here”, work of students from an Avignon college. They echo the photo exhibition hosted by the Théâtre du Train Bleu on the pollution of waterways by our waste. The last relays will finish the course on November 21 in Nice.
