E-cars: Most new registrations in Salzburg
This is shown by a current analysis by the Austrian Transport Club (VCÖ). Compared to the previous year, the proportion of electric cars in Salzburg has doubled. There are already more than 6,200 electric cars in Salzburg.
Charging stations also in apartments
With the reform of the Condominium Act, which was passed yesterday in the Council of Ministers, the installation of charging stations for e-cars in apartment buildings will be made easier from 2022. E-cars are primarily charged at home. While a total of 6.4 percent of newly registered electric cars were in Austria in 2020, the figure was already 12.9 percent in the first ten months.
More than 6,000 e-cars on Salzburg’s streets
There are already almost 6,200 electric cars in the state of Salzburg. On average, electric cars with an Austrian electricity mix cause 59 percent less CO2 in the overall balance including production and energy supply than an average diesel car, i.e. the VCÖ in one broadcast. But even with e-cars, energy consumption and CO2 emissions are very much dependent on size and weight, as a study by the Federal Environment Agency shows. “The same applies to electric cars: SUVs and other overweight vehicles drive up energy consumption.
In addition, THE ENERGY PATH NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE CLIMATE TARGETS IN TRAFFIC IS ACCELERATED BY THE PURCHASE OF THE TAX RELIEF FOR DIESEL AND PAYOR-BASED CO2 PRICES, demands the VCÖ.
