The organization of the 2024 European University Games, which will be the largest multisport event on the continent in Miskolc and Debrecen, has begun.

According to the information provided by the University of Miskolc on Thursday, the Hungarian University-College Sports Association, together with the cities of Debrecen and Miskolc, as well as the University of Debrecen and Miskolc, intends to organize the best University Games to date. Accordingly, the government, the two directing cities and the two directing universities also give special support to the organization, writes MTI.
– The University of Miskolc is committed to smart and green development. An integral part of this is sports and a health-conscious lifestyle, which is why we support sports in the budget of our institution. At the same time, university sports, whether amateur or elite, have a strategic role to play, said Zita Horváth, Rector of the University of Miskolc.
The mayor of Miskolc, Pál Veres, emphasized that the European University Games not only increase the visibility of universities, but also give a new impetus to education for a healthy lifestyle in a city where people have been environmentally and health-conscious in recent years and decades.
Péter Juhász, Secretary General of the Hungarian University-College Sports Association, emphasized that the higher quality of Hungarian competitive sports events, the involvement of a larger number of students and the transformation of communities through sport all serve the purpose of organizing high-quality University Games in all aspects.
During the event, 3 × 3 basketball, futsal, juggling, handball, kickboxing, ultimate frisbee, beach soccer, badminton and swimming / paragliding competitions will be held in Debrecen. Miskolc is home to fights in table tennis, karate, basketball, football, volleyball, chess, beach volleyball, orienteering, tennis, teqball and water polo.
For the European University Games, launched by the European University Sports Association in 2012, organizers expect around 6,000 participants from 450 universities in 40 countries.
