CoV- “Failure”: SPÖ applies for special state parliament – salzburg.ORF.at
SPÖ state party chairman David Egger threw governor Wilfried Haslauer and health officer LH-Deputy. Christian Stöckl (next to ÖVP) presented “political failure”. The SPÖ is also considering motions of no confidence and a U committee.
According to the rules of procedure, the special meeting requested on Thursday must now be called “immediately”. Presumably on Thursday afternoon the Presidial of the state parliament will discuss the further procedure. The earliest possible meeting date is December 2nd, said SPÖ club boss Michael Wanner at a media talk. The lockdown that has just been announced is not a reason for preventing.
Crisis management “a string of errors”
The coronavirus crisis management “was a string of errors,” said Egger. The government did not hear the experts’ warnings over the summer. “The summer was overslept again. The pandemic has been declared over. Why wasn’t a proper PCR test strategy and a proper vaccination campaign developed in the summer, why wasn’t more contact tracing staff sought? This new lockdown bears the signature of the ÖVP. This is a political failure Haslauer and Stöckl ask themselves whether they still have the right job or perhaps should retire.
The Social Democrats want to reserve “all parliamentary measures”, including the establishment of a committee of inquiry or motions of no confidence, said club boss Wanner. But first they want to wait for the debate in the state parliament. “In any case, we can’t leave it like that.” Today, Wanner shot himself in at Stöckl, who first came back from a three-week cure at the beginning of this week. “In times of crisis you have to come and not go underground.” Wanner spoke of “leadership failure”.
AK President: “No time to assign blame”
For the Salzburg AK president and ÖGB chairman Peter Eder, on the other hand, there was “no time to point the blame” on Thursday. He called for a nationwide conclusion: “The task now is to draw the right conclusions from the experiences of the past lockdowns. Employees and companies when and with the support of public finances – this time, however, accurately and not according to the watering can principle. “
ÖVP and Greens criticize Social Democrats
ÖVP club chairman Wolfgang Mayer was outraged by the attacks by the SPÖ club chairman on Stöckl: To accuse him of this as a failure of leadership and ‘going down’ is top notch. “
The green Kluchefin Kimbie Humer-Vogl does not believe in the advance of the Social Democrats for another reason: “It doesn’t help us at a special state parliament to deal with what is obviously going wrong or what we could have done differently. Now we need solutions for the future. If the SPÖ has such a good overview of the situation – as it constantly says – and has always known exactly what one should have done in the last few months, then I ask myself why this has not found any expression in the state parliament. “
Lockdown from next Monday, schools too
Governor Haslauer announced on Thursday a lockdown for everyone from Monday – including the closure of schools. More on this in Lockdown for Everyone in Salzburg, including schools (salzburg.ORF.at; 11/18/2021).
