The legendary Slovak singer, composer and guitarist Miroslav Žbirka is known as the author of melodic songs such as Biely kvet, Atlantída, Nemoderný chalan, Katrin or Co bolí. During his more than forty years on the music scene, he became famous as a solo performer of songs, which he also composed himself. He has released over thirty records in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany, and has given concerts almost all over the world.
Žbirka was born on October 21, 1952 in Bratislava. Already at the end of the 1960s, he was involved in the birth of the Bratislava rock band Modus. He recorded his first hit Zažni in 1977 and four years later he founded the band Limit with Lac Lučenič and set out on his own career. His debut solo album was called Doctor Sen.
Although Žbirka stood at the peak of its popularity, especially in the 1980s, it has also celebrated success in the last decade. Two years ago, he celebrated 40 years on the music scene with many guests with a grand concert in the packed O2 arena in Prague. Žbirka was then accompanied by a group of renowned British musicians, and Petr Čech, a former football goalkeeper, performed as a drummer in the song for 22 days.
