Belgium remains dark red on the European covid map
ECDC
Like every Thursday, Europe updates the color of each country on the ECDC “Covid map”. Unsurprisingly, Belgium remains dark red
Every Thursday, the ECDC, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control met up-to-date the color code of the regions of Europe according to different criteria linked to the contagion of the coronavirus. This week, no change for Belgium which remains dark red throughout its territory.
+ Review the situation of last week
Between 8 and 14 November, 10,494 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day. This is an increase of 27% from the previous week, according to figures from the Institute of Public Health Sciensano updated Thursday morning.
What about our neighbors?
France, largely yellow last week, turns light red, mainly over the southern half of the country. The Netherlands are also turning dark red – like Belgium – across the country. Our German neighbors also see four regions in the east as dark red.
And for the rest of Europe?
Few changes in the rest of Europe. Italy is seeing two of its regions go back to green. The vast majority of the country remains in orange. Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia are in dark red.

ECDC color code: how is it going?
It is on the basis of data and criteria from ECDC, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, that a color code is assigned to European countries as well as to the different regions that make them up.
Dark red color code: regions or countries where individuals are at very high risk of infection (14-day notification rate is greater than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Color code red: regions or countries where individuals are at high risk of infection (14-day notification rate is greater than 75 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the test positivity rate is equal to or greater than 4% OR if the rate 14-day notification range is between 200 and 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).
Color code orange: regions or countries where a moderate risk of infection has been identified (the 14-day notification rate is less than 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants but the test positivity rate is 4% or more OR if the 14-day notification rate is between 75 and 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the test positivity rate is less than 4%).
Green color code: regions or countries for a low risk of infection has been established (14-day notification rate is less than 50 cases per 100,000 population and test positivity rate less than 4% OR 14-day notification rate is less than 75 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is less than 1%).
Depending on these colors, the Belgian authorities take measures that the Belgians must follow (tests, quarantine, etc.).
