Toulouse. “The Cities Trophy is the toughest event”
The delegate of the Toulouse team leaving this morning for Grande-Synthe takes stock of the situation.
How is this great meeting on the Toulouse side?
We have a lot of hopes for this northern edition, to be sure, on the basis that we have nothing to envy anyone. Already, you should know that regardless of where takes place what I understand as the most challenging event in all of France, the Cities Trophy has often succeeded us in the past. We might as well be convinced that we are approaching it under good auspices, especially since we have taken all the necessary precautions due to the geographical remoteness.
What brings you to evoke the hyper spicy character of the field in contention?
In a propaganda competition which brings together a very large number of players, there are inevitably teams of tourists, some of whom sometimes take a license for the occasion. And, to a lesser degree, during a French championship, triplets, or other, for which qualification is an end in itself, an achievement. Conversely, who says Trophy of the cities says upstream selection of very good players, knowing that it is not necessary to be known to evolve at a very good level. Remember how much trouble Strasbourg gave us, it
two years ago. In short, apart from the internationals competing in Santa Susanna, all the “gratin” will be present.
Do you fear premature elimination?
Let’s say that a good course validates a project. If there is a defeat at an advanced stage of the competition, I am under no illusions, the criticisms will rain. Yet, I assure you, all players are legitimate. Rocky like the others, suspension from Bonnaud or not. If it was up to us, we would have enough to field several teams in Haute-Garonne. Thus, as an indication, Poinsignon, Berlier and Sadouet, whom I thank, as well as the leaders of the TPO, for having fully played the role of sparring partner last Saturday during the final supervised training session, would have their place in other formations. I repeat, all the choices made hold water. As sport remains sport, I only focus on technical considerations. Considerations of which the drawing of lots is an integral part.
