the role of local banks in an international enhancement scenario
As part of the celebratory events organized for the centenary of the Cassa Rurale di Faetano and therefore Banca di San Marino, in the presence of institutions, banking institutions and economic managers of political formations, it was held yesterday at the headquarters of the Ente Cassa di Faetano, the conference: “The value of local banks and the process of internationalization of the economy”. A conference that, thanks to the profile of the speakers, has allowed internationals to focus on the role that credit institutions play within the territorial economic dynamics, their possible developments according to prospective business models that have involved involvement in economic structures. After the honors of the President of Ente Cassa Faetano Giuseppe Guidi, who summarized the virtuous path of the financial system with the support of macroeconomic data, the moderator Alessandro Carpinella, – career started in 1997 at the Ministry of the Treasury, boasts a long tenure in KPMG Advisory , and from 2018 in Prometeia – he argued international economic scenarios in the 2022-2024 projection, with sustained growth and in terms of GDP but less resources for the banking sector: .. “A system – he emphasized – that will return to credit and bring again a balance between economic and social life “. Carlo Cottarelli, one of the best-known Italian economists at international level, provided a broad insight into Italian economic growth in the light of the new National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), instilling healthy optimism, with due prudence, in the implementation of the reforms structural: “In the last 15-20 years, the idea had spread that small local banks were no longer needed … I think this is a wrong idea … but it is also true that smaller banks, which have a more direct contact with people, certain things have to learn to do them together because in the world of digitization – for example – size matters. ” Lorenzo Tavazzi – Ambrosetti partner – focused on the role of technological transformation in the economic and financial sphere. The evolution of payments and the cashless society is a guarantee of the need for connection. 67% of Italians declared that they had increased the use of payments in 2020, thanks to the pandemic, with a growth rate of 140% since 2012, equal to an acceleration of about 5 years. Beniamino Anselmi, a great banker with experience gained at the highest level, in a lucid and emotional way reaffirmed that the peculiarity of a local bank lies in the contact and knowledge of customers. This value, Anselmi adds, “is the answer to the trust advance” given to banks starting from the structural dimension and place of residence. Territoriality becomes a style of work, “the breath of God in the soul”, as he called it, quoting St. Augustine. The debate full of numerous interventions, which led to an in-depth study of the topics covered by the conference, was followed by the closing intervention of the Bank of San Marino Francesca Mularoni. Urging the banks to assume a proactive role for the change and recovery of the country with two watchwords: observation of reality and change of perspectives. Mularoni concludes “Thinking of oneself as a Bank of San Marino means thinking of oneself as a Bank within a common future”.
